Why Yoga?

In the midst of our modern world characterized by daily stress, fatigue, and pollution, more and more people are seeking relaxation and inward awareness. Yoga provides a refuge away from the everyday confusion, allowing us to step back and gain perspective. The practice of yoga will allow you to release stress from your physical body, clear your mind and allow your spirit to become stronger. Yoga may seem like the fabled elixir of life a cure-all solution to our daily problems and concerns such as illness. But actually, the benefits Yoga practitioners have been experiencing for thousands of years are now being proven by medical science. Yoga relaxes the body and the mind, improves your resistance to disease and increases your energy level and productivity.

Yoga Instructor Profile:

RelationshipsLisa Frerichs
Registered Teacher
with Yoga Alliance

Yoga by definition means ‘union’ and as a teacher I work to blend the various aspects of multiple yoga styles to create a meaningful physical, emotional and spiritual experience that fits the needs of each student. I am thankful that Yoga has been a part of my life for more than 10 years. As a practitioner I have studied various styles of yoga: Sivananda path of Hatha Yoga with Chris Miller, Iyengar Yoga with Francois Raoult, Kundalini Yoga Sat Dharm Singh and Power Vinyasa yoga with Baron Baptist and Seane Corn.

I completed my 200 hour teacher certification with YogaFit, in a Vinyasa style of Hatha yoga. In 2009 I completed both the intro and advanced Restorative Yoga training with Judith Hanson Lasater. 2010 trainings include Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher’s Training with Elise Miller, several anatomy training classes and Ayurvedic training with Dr. Svoboda.

Yoga as you need it.
I am a believer in acceptance. In the past 3000 years yoga has been evolving, and hundreds of yoga styles have been created. All forms of yoga can be a positive addition in our lives, but all forms may not be what we need at this moment, and just as yoga has evolved, so will our practice of yoga evolve, we just need to be open to receive what we need.
